About the Team

You'll join a dynamic agile software development team at HMS Delft, The Netherlands, where we develop innovative software solutions for industrial diagnostics and cloud products. Our mission is to design, implement, and maintain reliable software that helps customers monitor, diagnose, and optimize their industrial operations.

Working in an international environment, you will collaborate closely with colleagues across different HMS locations and product teams. Our team develops both embedded software for industrial devices for diagnostics and cloud-based solutions for remote access. As HMS continues to expand its Cloud platform, built on AWS and leveraging technologies such as Java, Spring, and Angular, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to software that connects industrial edge devices with modern cloud services.

Role and Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to the development of software for our industrial diagnostics products and cloud-connected solutions. You will be involved throughout the full software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and implementation to testing and maintenance.

Your responsibilities include:

Designing, developing, and maintaining embedded software for industrial diagnostics products.
Contributing to the development of cloud-based applications and services on the Ewon Cloud platform using Java, Spring, and Angular.
Implementing and executing unit, integration, and E2E tests to ensure software quality and reliability.
Collaborating with product owners, architects, and fellow engineers to define and deliver new features.
Writing clean, maintainable code following software engineering best practices.
Participating in code reviews and technical discussions to continuously improve the quality of our products.
Troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving issues across embedded and cloud-based systems.
Contributing to the design and evolution of software architectures for both embedded and cloud solutions.
Expanding the use of AI in our development processes.

About You

You are a software engineer with a strong problem-solving mindset and a passion for developing reliable, high-quality software. You enjoy working on technical challenges across different domains and are motivated by delivering solutions that create value for customers.

You combine solid technical skills with a pragmatic and collaborative approach. You are eager to learn, take ownership of your work, and contribute to a team environment where knowledge sharing and continuous improvement are valued.

Required Experience

Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics, or equivalent experience.
Several years of experience in software development.
Strong proficiency in Java development & in-depth experience with the Spring framework.
Knowledge of software design principles, testing methodologies, and debugging techniques.
Experience with version control systems such as Git, ideally with GitLab.
Familiarity with networking concepts and communication protocols.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative international environment.

Nice to have

Experience with Angular is a huge plus.
Experience with AI agentic workflows.

Knowledge of Cloud Infrastructure & Services (e.g., AWS concepts like EC2, S3, Docker, Kubernetes) to understand deployment environments.
Experience with testing frameworks (e.g. Robot for E2E testing, JUnit, Mockito for Java; Jasmine, Karma, Jest for Angular).
Experience with RabbitMQ or other messaging queues.

Experience developing REST APIs and distributed systems.
Familiarity with Linux-based development environments.
Experience with embedded software development using C++.
Understanding of software architecture and system design principles.
Knowledge of industrial communication protocols and connectivity solutions (Profinet, Ethernet/IP and Profibus).

You always get information about the test before you are invited. The results from these tests are stored for maximum one year after the recruitment process ends.

IT service providers (Hosting, back-up, cloud solutions etc.)
Companies providing testing services
Recruitment companies (specific positions)

These service providers are only allowed to process information on behalf of HMS and as specifically instructed by us.

HMS Industrial Network entities ensure due care and take appropriate organizational and technical measures to protect the confidentiality and integrity of the personal data and communication data provided, collected and/or stored on our systems and shall not retain it any longer than permitted in order to perform its services or as required under relevant legislation.

Your personal data can only be accessed by authorized employees of HMS Industrial Network that need to have access to this data in order to be able to fulfil their given duties.

Data storage and location

Your application is stored on servers within the EU/EEA.

When performing tests during recruitment, the test service provider may store data outside EU/EEA.
