We want to invest in you and your talent, and prepare you for your future work life. HMS was founded from following a thesis project from the University of Halmstad, Sweden and we haven't forgotten our roots! We highly value the fresh ideas, can-do attitude and collaborative input students and young talents give us.

Are you looking for an opportunity to apply your knowledge to real-world challenges in embedded systems and industrial automation? Join our development teams and contribute to cutting-edge projects where innovation, technology, and industry meet. You will be part of an environment that values curiosity, collaboration, and hands-on problem solving—while shaping solutions that matter.

ABOUT THE THESIS PROJECTS

We currently offer three exciting thesis projects within our development team, suitable for both Master's and Bachelor's students:

1. Container Management Framework for WebAssembly-Based Embedded Systems

Explore the use of WebAssembly as a lightweight and secure runtime for embedded Linux devices. The project focuses on designing and implementing a container management framework that can create, deploy, and manage Wasm-based containers in resource-constrained environments such as industrial IoT and edge computing.

2. Anomaly Detection in Ethernet Cables via Shielding Measurements

Investigate novel methods for detecting cable faults and interference in Ethernet networks by monitoring shielding properties. The goal is to prototype a system that can identify anomalies during normal operation—without interrupting network traffic—helping to increase reliability in industrial communication.

3. Design of an Arduino/Raspberry Pi-Based Industrial Edge Computing Gateway

Design and implement an open-source edge computing gateway using Arduino or Raspberry Pi hardware. The project includes hardware design (e.g., PCB development in KiCad) and embedded programming, aiming to provide a flexible and cost-efficient alternative to proprietary industrial platforms.

Got your own thesis idea?

In addition to these projects, we also welcome students who wish to propose their own thesis ideas within our areas of expertise.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for motivated Master’s students in Computer Science, Electronics, Embedded Systems, or related fields. As we value close collaboration and knowledge sharing, we see great benefit in students being geographically close and spending time on-site with our teams.
