[TAKEN] Detection of audio visual/ signals in industrial production facilities

Department:
HMS Labs

Size:
1-2 students

Scope:
Computer vision, Artificial Intelligence

Description:
There is an increasing interest in intelligent applications for industrial use cases. One area where smart AI-driven applications are of particular interest is to use cameras to collect key performance indicators (KPIs) or to automate manual processes. Many machines on the factory floor lack displays and connectivity, these interface with the human operators through a mixture of audio/ visual signals (e.g. through LEDs and buzzers). The aim of this thesis is to develop a system that can read and interpret arbitrary sequences of visual signals from an industrial process. The task includes finding the signals in a video stream and translate signal sequences into states like NORMAL/RECONFIGURATION/ERROR or PASS/FAIL.

The project and scope can be adjusted to the size of the group and the participants.

Prerequisites:
Bachelor or master program within computer science or similar. Experience in a programming environment suitable for AI development like Python or Matlab, knowledge in artificial intelligence and computer vision, and expertise in C/C++, make, CMake is an advantage.
